Panthera leo bleyenberghi,the Angolan or Katangan or Bleyenbergh’s Lion was named by Axel Johann Einar Lonnberg in 1914.
It takes its common name from its area of distribution and its scientific name and alternate common name ,from Lieutenant Bleyenbergh,a Belgian army officer,who hunted one.
