The Serval is a very popular small cat to hunt and is a stunning trophy! It was named by Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber in 1776.
There arew 29 scientific descriptions for the Serval cat and 18 recognised sub-species.
The name Serval is derived from the Portuguese namew for the Lynx, “lobo-cerval”,this literally from the latin, “lupis”,meaning wolf and “cervis” meaning deer.
