Cephalophus adersi was named by Michael Rogers Oldfield Thomas in 1918.
There are 2 very distinctive features that characterise this specie.
1. A white band,low on the flanks,extends onto the lower rump area.
2. Irregularly shaped ,white and yellow spots,speckle the legs,and the face is a dark colour.
